- Guy Smith broke a 3-3 tie with 12 minutes remaining, assisted by Warren Williams.
Foster scored a minute and a half later assisted by Santo Vivace. Vivace scored
the final goal at 18:48. Defenseman Tom Schiller opened the scoring for New
England at 89 seconds. Brian Law tied the game at 10:31 after stealing the puck
from Vivace. Steve Self scored for New England and Gerry Andreatta of Rhode
Island scored with 4 seconds left in the first period. 14 seconds into the second
period, Bob Thompson scored off a faceoff of the Blades. At 13:26, Jim Jago
trapped the puck on his chest, banged it to the ice and swept it by the surprised
Bergland.
